HYPERPIGMENTATION - PARK AVE COSMETIC CENTER

HYPERPIGMENTATION

A common, usually harmless condition in which patches of skin become darker in color than the normal surrounding skin.

What is Hyperpigmentation?

This condition occurs when your skin produces an excess of melanin. Melanin is the brown pigment that produces your normal skin color, too much of it and the affected area start to appear darker in complexion. When your skin forms deposits of melanin in certain areas, hyperpigmentation occurs.

Freckles

Freckles are spots where the skin produces more pigmentation. They are hereditary linked to the MC1R gene. Freckles will appear in areas that are more exposed to sunlight.

Sun Spots

Like Freckles, Sun Spots are also linked to the MC1R gene. The key difference is that sun spots start to appear more with age. Repeated sun exposure causes certain parts of the skin to produce more melanin.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is safe for every skin tone, including dark skin types. Patients with darker skin are at higher risk for hyperpigmentation from traditional peels, but the Revepeel EnlightenRX is safe, easy, and there is limited downtime.
It exfoliates the upper surface of the skin and is enhanced by lightening agents, and during the 2-step prescription peel that takes about 20-35 minutes, your discolored pigmentation is brought to the surface, which increases cell turnover. The peel goes even deeper to inhibit further hyperpigmentation.
Since the Enlighten Mask contains prescription-strength concentrations of active ingredients, the Mask can only be obtained at a nurse practitioner or doctor’s office. This mask-peel has absolutely zero pain.
