How Xeomin® Works
Frown lines form when facial expressions are made as the muscle under the skin contracts. Over time, as your skin ages, these repeated expressions cause lasting frown lines. Neurotoxins, such as Xeomin, are prescription medications that block the release of the chemicals that cause these muscle contractions so frown lines are softened.
What Can I Expect?
During treatment, which usually takes about 10-20 minutes, your doctor will inject XEOMIN® into the muscles in your forehead that cause frown lines between your eyebrows. No anesthesia is required, however, your physician may use a topical anesthetic or cold pack to reduce any discomfort. You may begin to see visible smoothing as early as 3-4 days after injection. The median first onset of effect was less than a week. The maximum effect occurred at 30 days. The typical duration of effect was up to 3 months in clinical trials but may last significantly longer or shorter depending on the individual patient.
XEOMIN® Uses
XEOMIN® is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults for a short period of time (temporary).
XEOMIN® Warnings
XEOMIN® may cause serious side effects that can be life-threatening. Call your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of these problems, any time (hours to weeks) after treatment with XEOMIN®: Problems with swallowing, speaking, or breathing. These problems can happen hours to weeks after an injection of XEOMIN®. Death can happen as a complication if you have severe problems with swallowing or breathing after treatment with XEOMIN®. People with certain breathing problems who use muscles in their neck to help them breathe may be at a greater risk for serious breathing problems with XEOMIN®.

Frequently Asked Questions
The main difference between Xeomin and Botox is that Xeomin contains a “naked” form of botulinum toxin. Unlike Botox, which contains accessory proteins, Xeomin is designed to deliver the toxin without any protein additives.
Some cosmetic professionals will tell you that both products last about the same amount of time. Others will tell you that XEOMIN® lasts longer. According to the information that is put out by the producers of XEOMIN®, it does last longer than BOTOX®. However, it only lasts a couple of weeks longer.
Can It Be Used for Lips? This treatment can certainly be used on the lips, but not the way fillers are used. This won’t be injected to add volume, but it can bring positive results to other areas of concern around the mouth, lips, and smile.
